The projects main target is to strengthen and to expand aquaculture in two areas in the Sistan- Baluchestan Province (production, technology, economic results). The project is expected to have significant impact on the living standards of target groups, as well as indirect socio-economic benefits for the local communities, generating models for provincial level replication.

 

 

 General objective

The geneneral objective of the project is to reduce poverty and social imbalance while raising the income level of the local populations and communities in the Province of Sistan-Baluchestan through the reinforcement and dissemination of aquaculture activities.

 Expected results

- Operatin strategies correlated to the market
- Innovative technological packages
- Expansion of the production base and diversification of production
- Synergies between public (SHILAT)/private sectors

 Specific objectives

- Identification of valid production strategies for aquaculture in Sistan-Baluchestan
- Identification of appropriate technologies for both the contexts (fresh and sea water)
- Expansion of the production base and diversification of the product
- Institutional capacity building for Ministry of Jihad Agriculture and professional growth on the part of the SHILAT Iranian Fisheries Organization




Tehran - 19/01/2009 . 5th Steering Committee at SHILAT headquarters
The 5th S.C. of the Project “Aquaculture Development in Sistan Baluchestan” took place today at SHILAT headquarters in Teheran. The meeting was attended by the DGCS of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UNPD, SHILAT and CIRSPE representatives. After a brief overview of the state of the art by NPD Mr. Amini, the CIRSPE Project Manager Roberto Ugolini provided a general vision of the activities which will be undertaken in the next future. This intervention also pointed out some considerations concerning the strengths and the weaknesses emerged during the management of the project. Mr. Giordano (DGCS) remarked the importance to analyze social indicators showing the impact of the project, both on the population and the private sector...

Rome - 16 January 2009 . Scientific Coordinator and Project Manager important phone conference
Today the Scientific Coordinator Prof. Cataudella and Project Manager Roberto Ugolini had an important call before the departure of the Italian delegation for the Steering Committee in Tehran. Prof. Cataudella expressed his considerations regarding the project and its future. In particular the Scientific Coordinator believes that the use of Iranian expertise for technical activities was good and conforming to the aims of the project, although this approach caused a lack of direct linkage for the cooperation between Italian and Iranian networks (research, production, market, consumers, etc.)...
